島津製作所、チェコの電子顕微鏡メーカー「TESCAN社」を完全子会社化

株式会社島津製作所は、2026年7月10日付で、チェコ共和国を拠点とする電子顕微鏡メーカー「TESCAN GROUP, a.s.（以下、TESCAN社）」を完全子会社化しました。今回の買収は、分析計測分野におけるトータルソリューションの強化を目的としたもので、取得金額は711百万ドル（約1,152億円）です。
TESCAN社は1991年に設立された電子顕微鏡のパイオニア企業で、走査型電子顕微鏡（SEM）や集束イオンビーム走査電子顕微鏡（FIB-SEM）、透過型電子顕微鏡（TEM）、マイクロCT、レーザー加工システムなどを開発・製造しています。半導体やライフサイエンス、材料分野を中心に世界80カ国で4,000台以上の導入実績を有しています。
今回の子会社化により、島津製作所が強みとするクロマトグラフや質量分析計、試験機などによる「成分分析」や「物性評価」の技術と、TESCAN社の電子顕微鏡による「表面観察」技術を組み合わせることで、研究開発から品質管理までを一貫して支援するワンストップソリューションの提供を目指します。
また、販売面では、島津製作所の強固なアジア市場でTESCAN社製品の展開を拡大するとともに、TESCAN社が持つ欧米の顧客基盤を活用し、島津製作所製品の販売拡大を図るなど、双方の強みを生かしたグローバルな事業展開を進めていきます。
今回の買収は、分析計測技術のさらなる高度化と、世界規模での事業成長を加速させる重要な取り組みとして期待されています。

Shimadzu Corporation made TESCAN GROUP, a.s. (“TESCAN”), an electron microscope manufacturer based in the Czech Republic, a wholly owned subsidiary effective July 10, 2026. This acquisition, aimed at strengthening the company’s total solutions in the analytical measurement field, was completed for $711 million (approximately 115.2 billion yen).
Founded in 1991, Tescan is a pioneer in the field of electron microscopy, developing and manufacturing scanning electron microscopes (SEM), focused ion beam scanning electron microscopes (FIB-SEM), transmission electron microscopes (TEM), micro-CT systems, and laser processing systems. With a focus on the semiconductor, life sciences, and materials sectors, the company has installed more than 4,000 units in 80 countries worldwide.
Through this acquisition, we aim to provide a one-stop solution that offers comprehensive support from research and development through quality control by combining Shimadzu Corporation’s strengths in “component analysis” and “physical property evaluation” using chromatographs, mass spectrometers, and testing equipment with TESCAN’s “surface observation” technology based on electron microscopes.
In terms of sales, we will expand the distribution of TESCAN products in Shimadzu Corporation’s strong Asian markets, while also leveraging TESCAN’s customer base in Europe and the United States to increase sales of Shimadzu Corporation products, thereby advancing global business development that capitalizes on both companies’ strengths.
This acquisition is expected to be a key initiative for further advancing analytical and measurement technologies and accelerating business growth on a global scale.
